Welcoming Our Newest ETSU Intern: Wambui Kang'ara

We're excited to announce that Wambui Kang'ara has joined 33 Sticks as our newest Intern from East Tennessee State University, starting her semester-long journey with us today.

About Wambui

Wambui brings eight years of professional experience and is currently pursuing her Graduate degree in Brand & Media Strategy at ETSU. But what truly sets her apart is her intentional approach to growth and her alignment with our core values.

"I've always been drawn to lean teams working on high impact projects," Wambui shares. "You get the thrill of high-profile work without the bureaucracy and bottlenecks of large corporations. Work moves faster, efficiency is higher, and you're surrounded by top talent."

Why 33 Sticks Was the Right Fit

For Wambui, choosing 33 Sticks wasn't just about fulfilling an internship requirement, it was about finding the right environment for meaningful growth. With her experience, she sought a boutique agency with specialized offerings and a reputation for excellence.

"At this stage in my career, joining a boutique agency felt essential, somewhere with a tailored service offering and a reputation for excellence. I wanted more than just 'checking the box' for my master's internship, I wanted an enriching, really focused experience that truly aligned with my goals."

Perhaps most importantly, she was drawn to our people-first philosophy. "Success to me, is about building with integrity and people at the center. That people-first approach made me confident this is the right place to grow and receive invaluable mentorship."

Learning Through Challenge

This semester, Wambui will be stepping directly into her growth zone, focusing on data analytics and data storytelling, areas she's eager to develop. She'll gain hands-on experience in interpreting data to craft compelling brand narratives and personalize brand and consumer experiences, while also learning the realities of running a boutique analytics agency.

"Growth comes from moving outside your comfort zone," she explains. "For me, that challenge is data and analytics, an area I've been eager to understand more deeply and sharpen my skills in."

Our Continued Partnership with ETSU

Wambui's arrival marks another milestone in our strong partnership with East Tennessee State University. This relationship encompasses student mentoring, guest lecturing, and now our growing internship program. These collaborations are among the most rewarding aspects of our work, allowing us to invest in emerging talent while bringing fresh perspectives into our agency.

As Wambui puts it, "The best growth comes from challenge, and the best challenge is the kind you enjoy showing up for. Do what you love, love what you do."

We're looking forward to a semester of mutual learning, growth, and impact. Welcome to the team, Wambui!
